Excelitas Introduces pco.edge 1.3 SWIR CLHS Scientific Camera for Low-Noise Imaging in SWIR Applications
Excelitas®, the leading provider of advanced, life-enriching technologies that make a difference, serving global market leaders in the MedTech, Life Sciences, Advanced Industrial, next-generation Semiconductor and Avionics end markets, introduces its pco.edge 1.3 SWIR CLHS, the first scientific SWIR camera designed to deliver exceptional imaging performance across visible and short-wave infrared (SWIR) wavelengths. Developed for demanding scientific and industrial imaging applications, the camera combines ultra-low readout noise with high quantum efficiency, deep sensor cooling and high-speed performance.
The new camera features a 1280 x 1024 InGaAs image sensor with 10 µm x 10 µm pixels, frame rates up to 148 fps and spectral sensitivity ranging from 300 nm to 1700 nm. With typical readout noise of 25 electrons and sensor cooling down to -30°C, the camera enables highly sensitive imaging and low-noise measurements, even during longer exposure times.
“The pco.edge 1.3 SWIR CLHS expands our scientific imaging portfolio with a powerful new solution optimized for advanced NIR and SWIR imaging applications,” said Dr. Gerhard Holst, Senior Imaging Product & Application Scientist at Excelitas. “By combining low readout noise, high quantum efficiency and broad spectral sensitivity in a compact scientific camera platform, researchers and system integrators can achieve high-quality imaging performance across a wide range of challenging applications.”
The pco.edge 1.3 SWIR CLHS is designed for applications including intravital microscopy, in-vivo microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM/SPIM), structured illumination microscopy (SIM), hyperspectral imaging, semiconductor inspection, packaging inspection and digital surgery microscopy systems.
Key features of the camera include:
- Ultra-low readout noise of 25 electrons
- Broad spectral sensitivity from 300 nm to 1700 nm
- Quantum efficiency up to 73% at 1250 nm
- Sensor cooling down to -30°C for stable low-noise imaging
- Resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels with 10 µm x 10 µm pixel size
- Frame rates up to 148 fps
- High dynamic range and low-noise operational modes
The camera’s combination of low noise performance and SWIR sensitivity provides researchers and OEM system developers with a strong price-performance ratio for scientific imaging applications requiring high sensitivity and stability. The pco.edge 1.3 SWIR CLHS will be on display at Vision 2026 in Stuttgart, Germany, October 6-8, 2026, Booth #E51, Hall 10.
