Excelitas Laser Designator Optronics Module

Laser Designator Optics

Excelitas offers more than 20 years experience in the design and manufacture of optical modules and components for laser designation in dismounted soldier, vehicle and airborne targeting pod applications. Our products ensure reliable system performance for our services throughout the world.

Optronic Laser Beam Expander Assembly

Laser Designator Assemblies

Common aperture laser designator and receivers for long-range targeting applications. Precision alignment of laser assemblies including telescopes, beam expanders, laser crystals, corner cubes, beam directors, beam combiners, Porro prisms and Rhomboid prisms. Fabricated, coated, assembled and aligned to ensure system design parameters are met.

Laser Optics

Superpolishing of laser optics to angstrom precision. High-laser-damage-threshold coatings, with in-process controls including in-house laser-damage testing and automated defected measurements.

Laser Coatings

Laser coatings leverage our Ion Beam Sputtering technologies (IBS)  to enhance internal laser cavity performance and out-of-band wavelength to ensure optimum laser and designator performance.

Laser Substrates, Mirrors and Crystals

Processing, alignment and assembly of laser designator component with automated defect inspection are key for long-term laser designator operation. Excelitas has developed unique processes to fabricate, coat and align these delicate materials in a way to meet rigorous military environment.

  • Lowest possible losses: Superpolishing and IBS coatings with possible micro-roughness < 0.8 Å
  • Highest reflectivities > 99.998% at any wavelength in the 450 nm to 2 μm range.
  • High laser damage resistance: In house LDT testing
  • Laser Metrology: In house absorption and LDT with direct process feedback
  • Widest Wavelength: from 266 nm to 10.6 µm, for lasers operating from CW through the ultrafast regime.
